A Gallatin woman received minor injuries in a one vehicle accident that occurred at about 6:50 p.m. on I-35, according to a report by the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Alvin Smith, 74, Gallatin, was southbound on I-35 four miles north of Holt when he fell asleep. His 1997 Lincoln traveled into the median, returned back onto the roadway, and traveled off the west side. The vehicle hit an embankment and came to rest on its wheels facing northeast.

Deloris J. Smith, 71, a passenger, was treated at the scene and released. She was wearing her seat belt.

The vehicle received extensive damage.

The accident was investigated by Tpr. J. Zach, assisted by the Clinton County Sheriff.

Summons pending.

Douglas Prewitt, 48, Gallatin, received minor injuries when a tire went flat on the unit he was towing. Mr. Prewitt was about one mile east of Winston westbound on Hwy. 69 at about 12:25 p.m. on Monday, July 21. He lost control of the 2001 Ford pickup and traveled off the south side of the highway and down an embankment. The vehicle overturned and came to rest on its top.

Mr. Prewitt, who was wearing his seat belt, was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center by Daviess County Ambulance.

The pickup was totaled.

The accident was investigated by Tpr. J.P. Lynch, assisted by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department.

No summons.
