Mitchell King, 18, and Billy Kerns, 16, of Gallatin Boy Scout Troop 67, were awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at a court of honor Sunday at the Gallatin Methodist Church.

Mitchell has been a Boy Scout for seven years. Billy has been active in scouts for nine years, having begun as a Cub Scout in Pack 67 and later earning the Arrow of Light, the highest award in cub scouting.
In attaining the rank of Eagle, Mitchell earned 27 merit badges, as well as several special awards, including Pro Marksman, BSA SCUBA and BSA Snorkeling. He has served Troop 67 in numerous leadership positions, including patrol leader, quartermaster, senior patrol leader and troop guide. He is a runner in the tribe of Mic-O-Say with the tribal name of Tiger Hawk.
For his Eagle community service project, Mitchell supervised and assisted in the installation of RV and trailer pads at Gallatin’s Dockery Park, including leveling the site, installing utility hookups and graveling the pads. Mitchell is a 2008 graduate of Gallatin High School and is the son of Cliff and Donna King of Gallatin.
On the trail to Eagle, Billy earned 21 merit badges. His special awards include BSA SCUBA, BSA Snorkeling, and the United States Heritage Award. He has served Troop 67 in the leadership positions of patrol leader, historian, scribe, quartermaster and assistant senior patrol leader. For his Eagle community service project, Billy supervised and assisted in the establishment of landscaping and decorative fence partitions at the fellowship hall, and improvement of the play area, all at the First Christian Church of Gallatin. Billy is the son of Karl and Sherri Kerns, formerly of Gallatin and now of Enid, Okla., and the grandson of Shelba Runyan of Gallatin and Dorothy Kerns of Warsaw.
