Breanne Brammer was among 50 4-H members traveling to Lexington and Louisville, Ky., for the Missouri 4-H Equine Tour on May 23-29.
Tour participants were able to focus on the many equine career opportunities available. They visited three of the foremost equine health and research facilities in the nation. A day was spent at the Kentucky Horse Park which is the only equine park in the nation dedicated to the horse with many represented breeds, museums, breed organizations, and activities. The tour included a strong focus on the horse racing industry with visits to Keeneland, The Red Mile, Churchill Downs, and several legendary thoroughbred breeding farms. Rocky Mountain, Quarter, Morgan, Saddlebred, and Haflinger horse breeding farms were also visited. Renowned equine photographer, Doug Prather, and equine sculpturess, Gwen Reardon, shared their expertise with the 4-H’ers. The trip concluded with an overnight stay at a Kentucky 4-H camp interacting with 4-H members from the Kentucky 4-H equine program.
