Robert Mazur officially began as full time deputy sheriff at the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday, June 18.

Deputy Mazur graduated in 2002 from Gallatin High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with an emphasis in administration from Missouri Western State University in 2007. He then attended Missouri Western Regional Law Enforcement Academy and graduated in June.

Deputy Mazur worked for Frost Automotive in Gallatin and also sold auto parts in St. Joseph.

He is the son of Bonnye Lowe of Liberty and Brian Mazur of St. Joseph. He has a brother, Chris Mazur. Bonnye and Chris both work at Hallmark in Liberty. His father works with the boiler maker union in St. Joseph.

Deputy Mazur, who will be living in Gallatin, said, "I’m excited about my new career in law enforcement."
