Aubrey was nominated by her past scholar counselors at the National Young Scholars Program (NYSP), which she attended in Chicago, Ill., in 2007.

Aubrey recently completed the fifth grade at Covel D. Searcy Elementary School and was originally nominated for the NYSP camp in 2007 by her fourth grade teacher, Tara Burns.

Aubrey received her letter of selection and invitation from the national headquarters in Washington, D.C., in May, after her nomination screening. As an inaugural scholar and special guest on the national mall, Aubrey will bear witness as the president of the United States is sworn into office in January, 2009. She will also experience the inaugural parade and attend a gala inaugural ball.

Aubrey is scheduled to meet White House officials, congressional staff and special NYSP VIPS, such as Lance Armstrong. As a junior presidential youth scholar, Aubrey will meet with other NYSP alumni selected throughout the United States during a week long stay.

Aubrey will again be attending the National Young Scholars Program as an alumna this summer in Illinois for the week long camp. She has enrolled in the Medicine Discovery Strand.
