The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission recently awarded a contract to Norris Asphalt Paving Company of Ottumwa, Iowa, for a resurfacing project in the amount of $909,375.90.
The contract is for resurfacing on Route M in Daviess and Caldwell County and Route A in Caldwell County.
Route A in Caldwell County will be overlayed from just north of the Route N intersection to the Ray County line near Braymer for a length of 4.9 miles. Route M will be resurfaced from Route 13 (in Daviess County) to the U.S. 36 junction near Breckenridge (in Caldwell County) for a total length of 13.7 miles.
The contractor will begin paving on Route M in early July weather permitting. The work on Route M is expected to take approximately two and a half weeks to complete. Once the work is completed on Route M, the contractor will begin working on Route A. During this paving operation the road will be narrowed to one lane and a pilot car will be used to direct motorists through the work zone. Brief delays may be expected during this time.
Area maintenance crews will be patching in the upcoming weeks on Route M in preparation of the contract overlay. The road may be narrowed to one lane in different locations during this time. Motorists are reminded to drive with extreme caution and reduce their speed when driving through work zones.
