Funeral services for Donna Swope will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Joseph. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial gifts to Kendallwood Hospice.

Donna R. Swope, 84, St. Joseph, died Monday, June 9, 2008, at a local health-care center.
Mrs. Swope was born March 5, 1924, in Altamont. She was a graduate of Benton High School.
She married George E. Swope on June 20, 1942. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Swope worked in the clerical department at Swift & Co. for 21 years and Affiliated Foods for 15 years.
She was a member of the Eagles Lodge and American Legion Post No. 359.
Mrs. Swope also was preceded in death by her mother, Erma (Martin) Gilmore; stepfather, Jesse Gilmore; twin sister, Doris Youngman; and brother, Charles Harmon.
Survivors include one son, Gary Swope, Belleville, Ill.; six grandchildren ; one step granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
