The Pattonsburg R-2 Board of Education discussed plans for maintenance of the facility over the summer during their regular meeting held May 21.

Projects include drainage work around the building, covers over entry doors, and cleaning and screening the gym floor. The board also approved roofing work which needs to be done due to leaking problems.

Resignations were accepted from Sally Sparks, math, Amy Mefford, English, and Jim Reeves, bus driver.

The board hired Landon Snook as ag teacher and Nicholas White as high school math teacher for the next school year.

Mr. Silkett and Mrs. Brady gave principal’s reports.

Mr. Silkett congratulated Chase Conover who will participate in National FBLA to be held in Atlanta, Ga. Chase will compete in business computations. Mr. Silkett also congratulated state music participants.

Mrs. Brady congratulated the elementary students on raising over $2,400 during their Bike-A-Thon.

The board approved budget amendments.

MARCIT, Teacher’s First Choice was approved for the school’s insurance provider.

An audit proposal from Westbrook and Company, Richmond, was accepted by the board for the next three years, 2008-2010.

The next meeting is June 16 at 7 p.m., followed by a meeting on July 14 at 7 p.m. These dates were changed from those originally scheduled.
