The Dance Company of Gallatin held its annual dance recital at the Gallatin Courter Theater this past Saturday, May 31.

The recital featured dance numbers from the movie "Hairspray" as the opening production number. The audience was entertained by a cast of over 27 students performing intermediate and advance tap, clogging, musical theater, pom and acro dance.
The two performances for the day presented recital and competitive numbers. The competition team members showcased all dance routines that will be taken and judged at the national dance competition for Talent on Parade in Branson in July.
Senior farewell dance and salutes were performed by Lindsey Dustman and Kathryn Everly.
Each recital’s finale had students receiving dance medallions and individual teacher awards. Two scholarship awards were presented to Graycen Prothero and Kathryn Everly. The most valuable tapper and most titles won for 2008 was awarded to Alexia Tolson.
National Dance Team members for Talent on Parade recognized were: Kaley Esbeck, Alexia Tolson, Sadie Wilson and Aubrey Nelson.
The Dance Company of Gallatin is in its eighth year of operation, and is owned and operated by Vera Nelson.
