A number of people have asked why the flags were not flown around the cannon and veterans walk on Memorial Day.

The scouts from Troop 67 made the decision that morning not to put them up due to the high chance of rain and since it did not rain it may have appeared we slacked on our duty. We unfortunately do not have adequate space in which to dry the flags should they get wet so they are not flown when there is a good chance of rain. The scouts will continue to serve this community through service projects and other volunteer efforts like raising the flags at the cemeteries on Memorial Day, placing the flags around the cannon, etc. We would like to remind the public of the flag retirement station that has been placed in the courthouse. If you have a flag that is torn, tattered, or otherwise needs to be retired please bring it by the court house, place it in the station and it will be retired at a later date in a dignified manner. Since the flag retirement stationÆs dedication on May 19th, there

have been twenty-four flags retired. The scouts wish to thank the community for their continued support of our scouts and the scouting program. Respectfully,
