A Gallatin youth received serious injuries in a one-vehicle accident at about 3:50 p.m. on Thursday, May 29.

According to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patron, Kirsten Richards, 16, was traveling eastbound on Hwy. 6 one mile east of Altamont. Her 2001 Dodge traveled across the center line, overcorrected, and traveled off the south side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a ditch and continued off the roadway, struck a fence, overturned, and struck a tree. The vehicle came to rest on its top off the south side of the roadway.
Kirsten was taken to North Kansas City Hospital by Daviess County Ambulance. She was wearing her seat belt.
The Dodge was totaled and towed by Bridgeman’s of Altamont.
The accident was investigated by Tpr. L.M. Newman, assisted by Sgt. M.A. Ott, and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department.
Summons pending.
A Winston man received moderate injuries in an accident at about 6:45 p.m. on Friday, May 30, when the vehicle in which he was a passenger slowed in the roadway to avoid striking a turtle and was rear-ended by another vehicle.
According to the report by the highway patrol, Andrew Egbert, 21, Osborn, and Catherine Nelson, 34, Cameron, were both southbound on Hwy. EE, three miles north of Cameron. Mrs. Nelson slowed to avoid hitting a turtle and was struck in the rear by Mr. Egbert. Both vehicles came to rest in the southbound lane of the highway.
Mr. Goucher, 28, was taken by DeKalb County Ambulance to Heartland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph. He was wearing his seat belt.
Mrs. Nelson’s 1990 Lincoln and Mr. Egbert’s 1995 Oldsmobile were extensively damaged and towed by Scotty’s of Cameron.
The accident was investigated by Tpr. L.M. Newman, assisted by Cpl. R.A. Sherman and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
Mr. Egbert was issued a summons for following too close.
