"While we consider every annual meeting an important event for our members to attend, this year’s meeting will feature the introduction of several new programs, as well as national legislative information that could have a significant impact on your monthly power bill," said Mike Sanders, FEC CEO. "It is important that our members understand the election year politics and how it could have an effect on them money-wise in the very near future."

Registration for the annual meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. Board President Ron Cornett will call the meeting to order at 7 p.m.

Three directors will be elected to the cooperative’s board of directors. The cooperative’s Committee on Nominations, elected by the members at last year’s annual meeting, nominated LeRoy Kern, representing District No. 2, which covers all or parts of Clinton and Caldwell counties: Arzy (Butch) Bisbee, District No. 3, which consists of Ray County; and W.D. Richards III, District No. 7, which consists of Chariton County. The 2009 Committee on Nominations will also be elected at the June 10 meeting.

The business meeting will include presentations by Cornett, Sanders, N.W. Electric Power Cooperative CEO Don McQuitty and FEC attorney Dana Macoubrie.

"One of the new programs we introduced earlier this year is the Co-op Connections Card," said Sanders. "At this year’s annual meeting we will be announcing a new program that members can become involved with that will help area families who have a child with medical needs, but cannot afford to pay the medical bills."

Sanders said a new energy efficiency program would also be announced at the meeting, with this program expected to be fully underway by late summer or early fall.

"There are a number of ways in which each member can make a difference in the energy they use at their homes or businesses," said Sanders. "This new program will provide information and assistance to our members to help them become as efficient as possible, saving them money each month."

Prior to the business meeting, members who register will receive a bucket with several compact fluorescent bulbs, a $10 gift certificate good at the Fuel Espresso convenience store in Chillicothe, and other items. Members can also enjoy a free Dairy Queen ice cream sandwich in the commons area of the high school.

At the conclusion of the annual meeting, over 75 prizes will be given away. The grand prize winner this year will have the choice of a 52-inch big screen television, a side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, a double oven or a front-loading washer and dryer. A concession stand will be in operation in the high school commons area. Once the business meeting begins the Chillicothe FCCLA Chapter and Cornerstone Church will provide a Kids Fun Zone for the younger members of the cooperative.
