The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2172 and the American Legion Post #68 are hosting the service, assisted by the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post #2172, Gallatin, and the local boy scout troop.
Roger A. Woody will be speaker; Linda Arnold will be vocalist, performing a medley of patriotic songs; Russ Hamilton, minister of Gallatin First Christian Church, will have prayer; and John Corwin will play Taps. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
Most people will have Monday off and enjoy spending the day with their families, fishing, boating or just slapping some hotdogs and hamburgers on the grill. Let’s not forget to take time to honor the brave men and women of America’s military who have fought and died to make such days possible.
Lile Cemetery is south of the courthouse square on Main Street (Hwy. 13) about four blocks until Richardson Street. Turn right (west) at the Sandman Motel and go about five blocks to the First Baptist Church. Lile cemetery is at the corner of Benton Avenue and West Richardson Street. It’s a good-sized cemetery — but there is no sign that identifies it.
