All proceeds from the donations for the Buddy Poppies are used to benefit our local veterans and their families when the need arises.
The Buddy Poppy is the official flower of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and is the symbol of the pledge to “Honor the Dead by Helping the Living,” by perpetuating the memories of thousands of selfless military service members who died so all United States citizens could live free.
The ladies provide money for weekly bingo prizes, plus the cakes and ice cream for the May birthday party at the VA Home in Cameron and donate money to the local food pantry to assist a veteran and/or his family, if needed.
The ladies provide transportation for doctor’s appointments and visits to hospitalized veterans and provide telephone “calling cards” to area military members in Afghanistan and Iraq. The auxiliary also participates in teaching patriotic pride in the schools by distributing “pledge certificates” to kindergarten students and “Our Flag Pamphlets” to fourth graders.
Please be generous with you donations on Saturday so that the Ladies Auxiliary can continue the important programs of assistance and support for our men and women in uniform.
