A joint graveside service and burial for John and Dorothy Elam with military rites, was held Saturday at the McFall Cemetery, under the direction of Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany.

John Mack Elam, formerly McFall, and wife, Dorothy Mae (Vogel) Elam, Sierra Vista, Ariz., were involved in a fatal traffic accident Tuesday, April 22, 2008, while vacationing in Mexico.
Mr. Elam was born April 2, 1943, in Los Angeles County, Calif., to George Emberson Elam and Lillian Fay Stephens. John was preceded in death by his parents.
Mrs. Elam was born July 8, 1951, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Conrad Vogel and Viola Jensen. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, who died just after birth.
Mr. Elam enlisted in the U.S. military in October of 1961 and served until October of 1991. In June of 1976, while serving in the military, John was graduated from the New York Institute of Technology. He spent three tours in Vietnam. While serving in Germany, he met Dorothy, who also was serving in the Army. They were married May 8, 1980, in Colts Neck, N.J.
Mrs. Elam enlisted in the military in 1972, when there was still a Women’s Army Corps. They later served in Texas, where their first child was born; and Dorothy got out of the Army and became a domestic engineer.
Mr. Elam retired in 1991, with the rank of sergeant major.
Survivors include their children, Veronica Brawn, and Jared and Eric Elam. Mr. Elam was previously married to Jeanine Duff, with whom he had three children, John Elam, Christopher Elam and Jeffrey Elam. He is also survived by brother, Scott; and a sister, Grace Hamm.
Mrs. Elam  is also survived by her brothers, Rex and Ray; sisters, Connie and Larue; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Ruby Mothersead
Funeral services for Ruby Mothersead were held Monday at the McFall Baptist Church with burial in the McFall Cemetery. Arrangements were by Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany. Memorial contributions may be made to the McFall Baptist Church or the McFall Cemetery in care of the Roberson-Polley Chapel, 403 N. Hundley, Albany, MO 64402.
Ruby Mae (Shriver) Mothersead, 87, Albany, died on May 9, 2008.
Mrs. Mothersead was born July 31, 1920, in Daviess County to Fred and Mary Cleo (Ford) Shriver. She was the fourth of seven children in the family.
She graduated from Civil Bend High School in 1936. During her school years, she won contests for her vocal solos.
At the age of 12, she professed her faith in Christ and was baptized.
In 1941, she was united in marriage to Keith Mothersead of McFall.
Ruby served alongside her husband, as a pastor’s wife.
She was a member of the McFall Baptist Church.
Mrs. Mothersead was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; a daughter, Brenda Sue; a son-in-law, Lavane Grantha; three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include eight children, Marsha Black, McFall; Linda Borland, Lynchburg, Va.; Sandy  Warner, Liberty; Glenda Manring, Sunray, Texas; Philip Mothersead, Springfield; Sharon Varns, Carbondale, Ill.; Karen Grantham, Albany; Cheryl Langer, San Antonio, Texas;  two sisters, Marietta Duffey, Nashville, Tenn., and Donna Dahman, Rich Hill; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
