The Gallatin Fire Protection District reported April 18 that $97,296.31 had been stolen from their checking account.
During the investigation, 28 cleared checks from the fire district checking account were discovered to have forged signatures for John Thomas and David Rains. The checks required two signatures.
On April 23, Ronald W. Dickson of Gallatin admitted under Miranda to forging all 28 checks from the fire protection district to pay for personal debts during the past four years. He had access to the funds as the secretary/treasurer of the Gallatin Fire Protection District board.
Dickson, 39, has been charged with 28 felony counts of forgery. He posted $50,000 bond.
