Last Friday was a big day for three Gallatin R-5 seniors who plan to take their athletic endeavors to the next level. Jon Brown, Andy Ward and Stephen Wood all signed letters of intent to play football next season for the Graceland University Yellowjackets in Lamoni, Iowa.

The three signees, all integral parts of Gallatin’s 2006 run to the Class 1 state semifinals, were all-conference and all-district picks in 2007. Wood, Gallatin’s single season and all-time leading rusher, was a two-time all-state pick by AP sportswriters and sportscasters.
Graceland University finished 6-4 last season in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
Joining Brown, Ward and Wood at Friday’s signing were Graceland offensive line coach Eric Coffey, Gallatin coach Mark Cole, Sandy and Mike Ward, and Carla and Jon Wood.
