The Set-Aside committee of the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board has recommended that District 7 receive $24,232.
District 7 is made up of Caldwell, Daviess, Grundy, Harrison, Mercer, Putnam and Sullivan Counties The amount awarded to Missouri for distribution by the Set-Aside Committee is $368,381.
The National Board is chaired by the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency and consists of representatives from The Salvation Army; American Red Cross; United Jewish Communities; Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A.; and the United Way of America.
A local board made up of government officials and service agency representatives from the above mentioned entities, wherever possible, other interested members as well as a homeless person or formerly homeless person will determine how the funds awarded to the seven counties are to be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service organizations in the area.
Public or private voluntary agencies interested in applying for Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds must contact Diana Hoppe, Local Board Chair, at 1506 Okalahoma Avenue in Trenton, and/or by telephone at 660-359-3907 Ext 133 for an application. Those agencies that received funding in Phase 25 will be sent an application. The deadline for applications to be received is April 29, 2008 by 4 p.m., prior to convening the local board meeting set for Tuesday April 29, 2008 at 4 p.m. in the Conference Room of Green Hills Community Action Agency at 1506 Oklahoma Avenue in Trenton.
