The award is based on the number of years a driver has driven for OATS without a chargeable (preventable) accident.
OATS drivers must average 500 hours per years and drive for two full years without an accident to be eligible for an award. A driver loses one year of eligibility for each accident they have. The award consists of a pin, which shows the number of safe driving years.
The following OATS drivers from our area qualified for awards on June 30, 2007: Jack Smith of Kidder, 19 years, Carolyn Toney of Gallatin, 12 years, Leona Waterbury of Jamesport, eight years, Nancy Pugh of Jameson, five years, Loretta Estes of Kidder, four years, Roy Duncan of Gallatin, two years.
