The North Daviess R-3 Board of Education held a special board meeting on Thursday, March 27, at Coffey, during which they voted to retain the following teachers: Rebecah Roberts; Natisha Berry; Wendell Burns (part-time, not to exceed 550 hours); Kim Fish (part-time, three hours per day); Justin Ganser; Elmer Jackson; Deva Lanning; Nichole Robertson; Judy Slaughter (part-time, not to exceed 550 hours); Suzanne Slaughter; Kimberly Terhune; Bobbie Pyles (part-time, not to exceed 550 hours).
The board voted to increase Julie Schluter to full time as FACS and business teacher for 2008-09.
The following resignations were accepted by the board: Chris Gannon, Charles Reece and James Cool.
Ms. Morris reported on her meeting with area schools considering the creation of an area alternative school and the costs and benefits of membership. The board carried a motion to join the alternative school cooperative pending the receipt of the state grant.
The board entered into executive session for employee matters.
After returning to open session the board moved to adopt the proposed salary schedule for 2008-2009.
The board agreed to retain Greg Hartley, Annette Lowrey and Mary McCrary (yes-4, abstain 1 by Cecil McCrary) for 2008-2009.
Present at the March 27 special meeting were David Iddings, Beverly Hunter, Jason Lewis, Cecil McCrary and Chris Nelson. Absent were Doug Baker and Debbie Ray (excused). Also present were Superintendent Julie Kirby; Board Secretary Bev Hunter; Becky Morris; and Kristi Weldon.
