Two Trenton men were arrested by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department for their alleged involvement with an anhydrous ammonia theft at Lock Springs at about 7 p.m. on Friday, March 28.

Ryan Trombley, 23, and Corey Hines, 21, both of Trenton, are presently being held at the Daviess-DeKalb County Regional Jail on a $75,000 cash-only bond.
According to the probable cause statement, Deputy Jason Sackrey of the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched due to a call about two white males stealing anhydrous ammonia from the elevator in Lock Springs. The caller told dispatch that they (the caller) had followed the Camaro to Route V and that it was traveling at a high rate of speed.
Deputy Sackrey responded to Route V where he parked east of the intersection of Route V and 280th Street, approximately 1000 feet west of the crest of the hill on Route V, in the east bound lane. The front of his patrol car was partially blocking the west bound lane. His emergency lights and siren were activated.
He was there about two minutes when a white Camaro came over the hill, clocked in at 82 m.p.h. on the radar unit. The Camaro struck the patrol car nearly head on.
Deputy Sackrey then drew his service weapon and ordered the two male occupants to put up their hands. The driver, Ryan Trombley, reversed, did a J turn and headed east on Route V. Deputy Sackrey pursued the vehicle. The hood of the Camaro popped up, making Trombley unable to see. Sackrey stated in his report that the passenger, Corey Hines, threw items out of the passenger side window and dumped out a clear liquid.
Trombley pulled over and Deputy Sackrey arrested the two men with assistance from Missouri State Highway trooper J.P. Lynch.
Both men were taken to Cameron Regional Hospital with minor injuries. Upon their release they were taken to the Davies-DeKalb County Regional Jail.
Trombley and Hines were each charged with the following felonies: theft/attempted theft of anhydrous ammonia or liquid nitrogen; possession of anhydrous ammonia in a non-approved container; unlawful control of a container – allowing release/escape of anhydrous ammonia; resisting/interfering with arrest of a felony. Trombley was also charged with tampering with physical evidence.
In connection with the accident, Trombley was arrested for felony leaving the scene of an accident, seat belt violation, and registration violation. Trombley’s 1991 Camaro was moderately damaged and was towed by Bridgeman’s of Altamont. The patrol vehicle, a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe, had minor damage and was driven away.
