Gallatin R-5 varsity track athletes charged into the 2008 season with strong showings last week at meets held at North Platte and Kearney (moved from Smithville) high schools.

Combined relay efforts brought home four first place medals (3 girls) from the early competitions. Cody Selby captured first place in the pole vault event in the Smithville Invitational. The first week of action also brought four second place individual performances from Tye Humphrey, Carly Boyd, Ashley Owens and Kayle Hefley.
