All probationary teacher contracts were offered for the 2008-2009 school year during the regular meeting of the Winston R-6 Board of Education held Thursday, March 20.

The board accepted the resignation of Katie Potts, language art’s teacher.

CTA Salary Committee proposal was presented by Kathy Henderson.

Carmen Parkinson and Tracy Eiken addressed the board concerning a personnel concern. Linda Meitz addressed the board concerning a reading and math program and a personnel concern.

Elementary principal’s report was given. Preschool has an enrollment of 16. Kindergarten through sixth grade enrollment is 90, with a 95.2% attendance rate. Students of the Month were Kristchon Hisel and Jasmine Ramirez.

High school principal’s report was given. Enrollment for seventh through 12th grades was 76 with an attendance rate of 90.39%. Students of the Month were Tyler Mason and Chandler Newman.

Food Service Program evaluation was approved.

The 2008-2009 school calendar was approved.

Reorganization of the board will be on April 17.

Gym rental was approved for April 11 for Eric Lewis for summer league baseball, and for April 12 for Lee Warford for elementary basketball.

A special board meeting and administrator interviews was set for April 7.

The alternative school grant was discussed. More information will be given to the board.
Lucille Lusk addressed the board concerning emergency shelter information. The board gave tentative approval to work with an emergency manager and fire department for the use of the Winston School and its grounds.

Next regular board meeting was set for 7 p.m. on April 17.

Members of the R-6 Board of Education present at the March 20 meeting were Duane Heldenbrand, Chretta Mastin, David Neth, Scot Wilkerson, Shelly Mason, Barb Youtsey and Allan Ward.
