During their regular meeting held March 10, City Administrator Zac Johnson told the Gallatin Board of Aldermen that next week the city crew will begin the water line replacement project at Prospect and Elm Streets.

The board opened the following sealed bids on scrap iron: Barney Esbeck $390; Johnson’s Scrap-n-Haul 50% of fair market value; Jerry Ferguson $110 per ton; Everett and Phyllis Curtis $2,100.
The board accepted Jerry Ferguson’s bid of scrap iron at $110 per ton.
Discussion was held on a dog limitation ordinance. No action was taken on a bill creating a limitation upon ownership of dogs.
Mr. Johnson stated that the Park Board has requested that two members, Mike Walker and Tomie Jo Walker, be removed due to un-excused absences and the board voted to remove them.
Mr. Johnson discussed applying for the demolition grant by April 1. The board approved a motion to re-apply for the grant.
Mr. Johnson submitted a bid for replacing meter reading hand-helds.
He stated that all the brush from the ice storm has been picked up. An order has been placed for winter mix to start filling in potholes.
Mr. Johnson discussed an underground electric line located on Steve Holcomb’s property.
The city administrator requested the next board meeting be changed from March 24 to March 31 and the board agreed to change the meeting date.
Public comments were made regarding brush pick-up.
Police Chief Mark Richards reported on activity from Feb. 25 to March 10: 1 vehicle tamp- ering; 1 harassment; 1  supplying alcohol to minors; 1 no valid operators license; 1 stealing. There are three dogs in the pound.
Chief Richards stated that the DARE programs have been completed in Winston and Pattonsburg. He still has about four weeks in Gallatin.
Chief Richards commented that Wal-Mart in Cameron donated several more bags of dog food to the pound. This helps keep food costs down and is greatly appreciated.
Bills totalling in the amount of $168,919.46 were approved for payment.
During new business discussion was held on the financial statement.
During comments by aldermen, mention was made regarding a pothole on South Prospect.
The board entered into closed session pursuant to hiring, firing, disciplining or promoting employees.
