David and Lois Hockensmith of Kansas City, formerly of Pickering, will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on March 23.

They were married at the country home of the bride’s parents, Marvin and Nellie Sadler Carmichael, Pickering. They are the former owners of Hockensmith Electric, Maryville.
On March 31, 1943, he was called to active duty with the Army and served for three years in the Pacific Theater of World War II.
Their three sons and spouses are David Jr. and Julie of Springfield; Dana and Sue of Manchester; and Deon and Sheryl of Kansas City. They have six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Maxine Whitt, Cameron, formerly of Gallatin, is the sister of Mr. Hockensmith.
