Upon returning to open session after a closed meeting, the Winston R-6 Board of Education offered a contract to Elementary Principal Philip Pohren for the 2008-2009 school year.

A motion to offer High School Principal Jeremy Covey a contract failed by a vote of 3-Yes and 3-No.
The board offered a letter of intent to Bart Pliley for custodian at $9 per hour, and motioned to set a salary for Matt Mason at $8 per hour, which was approved by a vote of 5-yea and 1-abstain.
A letter of intent was offered to Janice Michael as part-time cook at $8 per hour.
Abe Riggs addressed the board on accountability and requested that the board consider implementing regulation 1460 (School/Community Relations; Community Involvement in Decision Making) and form 1400.
The board discussed the public forum. A comment area will be added to the agenda beginning in March.
Lucille Lusk and Hobart Hiley addressed the board about using the school for emergency shelter. The issue was placed on the March agenda.
Elementary enrollment was 110 with a 95.46% attendance rate. Students of the month were Jordan Leonard and Shelby Mason.
High school enrollment was 80 with an attendance rate of 92.03%.
The calendar was amended to move parent-teacher conferences to March 20 with an early dismissal at 12:45 on that date.
Mr. Covey and Superintendent Lisa Bielby will schedule an CSIP meeting with the committee members.
The following program evaluations were reviewed and approved: Parent as Teachers; School Health Services; Library Media Services.
The calendar of events was presented. Mrs. Bielby presented the 2008-2009 proposed calendar to the board. March 20 was set for a public hearing on opening date of school.
The junior class requested that prom be held off-site and reviewed a letter from Ms. Burge.
Insurance updates were discussed.
The board approved training from Tyson Otto for Mary-Ann Liechti at $20 not to exceed $1,500.
Next regular board meeting was set for 7 p.m. on March 20
