Superintendent Julie Kirby presented a possible roof issue at the high school addition during the regular meeting of the North Daviess Board of Education held Monday, Feb. 18.

The financial statement was presented and bills were approved for payment.
Election for school board members will be held on April 8.
During new business, the board heard program evaluations for Vocational; Counseling; Drug Free Schools; PPP; and PAT.
Mrs. Schluter presented the FACS, FCCLA, Business and Agriculture program evaluations.
Ms. Pyles presented the Counseling and Drug Free Schools evaluations, which included the addition of the "Character Plus" program for the upcoming school year.
Ms. Susan Jones presented the PPP and PAT survey information, which had concluded. The survey was in regards to the need of day care services in the community.
A motion carried to provide the transfer of special education attorney records of Teri Goldman to the Mickes and Goldman, LLC law firm due to a merger of the firms.
During administrative reports, Ms. Kirby presented a possible roof issue at the high school addition. She also presented the information about the Gray Ram Tactical Training that took place on Feb. 8 for staff members. The training showed the staff how to handle situations that may arise in the school setting.
School will be in session March 24 and 25 for make-up days.
Ms. Weldon stated that Kayla Jinks was presented with DAR award. Homecoming coronation was Feb. 16. Jaclyn Ray was crowned queen and Frank Marshall was crowned king. The FFA auction will be held from 5-6 p.m. on Feb. 22 with a girl’s basketball game following. Feb. 28 will be the high school Science Fair.
Mrs. Morris reported on the Four Seasons fund-raiser for elementary school. Grades five through 12 participated in a ski trip to Weston. Farmers Electric put on a safety presentation for grades pre-kindergarten through eighth.
The board entered into executive session for employee matters.
Upon returning to open session, the board denied Mr. Jackson’s request for the choir trip to be changed to Texas due to lack of funding to go to Florida as originally requested. However, the board agreed to approve a trip within the state of Missouri in order for the choir to compete if funding is available.
The position of special projects coordinator was offered to Julie Kirby for the 2008-2009 school year as a nine-month position with no more than 550 hours with the salary the same as for 2007-2008. The motion carried 4 – Yes and 1 – No.
Next school board meeting was set for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, at Coffey.
North Daviess R-3 Board of Education held its regular meeting on Monday, Feb. 18, at Coffey.
Board members present were David Iddings, Beverly Hunter, Jason Lewis, Cecil McCrary, Chris Nelson (arriving at 7:20). Board members absent were Doug Baker and Debbie Ray.
Also attending were Becky Morris, Kristi Weldon, Susan Jones, Bobbie Pyles, Kim Terhune, Mary McCrary, Axle Olson and Julie Schluter.
