Funeral services for Mourine Pierce will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the Altamont United Methodist Church. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Stroup-Thompson Funeral Home in Winston. Burial will be at Mt. Ayr Cemetery in Altamont. Memorials may be made to the Altamont United Methodist Church.

Jennie “Mourine” Pierce, 91, Gallatin, formerly of Winston, died on February 27, 2008.
Mrs. Pierce was born on May 2, 1916, in Maysville to Abraham Lincoln and Frances Lovetta (Casper) Allen.
She was a member of the Altamont United Methodist Church.
On Nov. 23, 1961, she married Roscoe Pierce. He preceded her in death in 1991. Also preceding her in death were her parents, an infant daughter, Nina Jean, sisters, Fern Edithea Allen, Wilma Jean Allen in infancy, and Roberta Frances Harwood, brothers, Casper Charles and Carl Leroy Allen.
Survivors include two sisters, Anna Uthe, Winston, and Peggy Orr, Cameron.
