Competition team members from the Dance Company of Gallatin recently competed in the Regional Sophisticated Dance Competition at the Follies in Kansas City.
The competition was offered as an optional contest for team members. Approximately a third of the Dance Company team members performed in tap, lyrical, pom-pon and clogging categories.
The members came home with gold and platinum adjudicated awards. Dancers also received eight special judge’s awards. Sophisticated Production Regional Dance Competition also presented 12 overall awards for the total competition, which had over 220 entries. The Dance Company took home half of the 12 overall awards presented that day.
Team members Kaley Esbeck, Alexia Tolson and Lacey Shilt received overall high score in solo divisional ages.
Top duet overall for eight and under was won by Chloe Simmons and Ainsley Tolson.
Top overall duet/trio 9-12 was awarded to Kylie Collins, Alexia Tolson and Aubrey Nelson.
The small clogging group of Cayden Johnson, Aubrey Burns, Addison Burns and Annie Nelson won the overall high score small group in eight and under.
Team members selected to the National Dance Team in Wildwood, NJ, for this summer were Kaley Esbeck, Alexia Tolson, Chloe Simmons, Ainsley Tolson, Lacey Shilt, Kylie Collins and Aubrey Nelson.
Competition instructor Paul Bruinsma and studio owner and competition instructor Vera Nelson accompanied the team members. Full competition members are slated to compete at Bravo and Talent on Parade in the next six weeks.
