Mr. Holcomb suggested having a security officer patrol the premises outside of the jail as well as the town. Several alternatives were discussed. These will be presented to the jail board and possibly a trial program will be implemented.
Dave Tolen, budget officer for the jail, informed the council of the repairs and reinforcements that have been made to the jail.
Jail Administrator Larry Hadley discussed the release of inmates. He explained to the council that most of the prisoners are being transported back to the county they were picked up from.
These are usually from across state lines. But there are some that do not get taken back. And if they do not have a ride by the time they are released, the jail has no other choice but to release them onto the streets of Pattonsburg.
Missouri Gas Utilities Marketing Representatives Bret Brown and Julie Zorn were present to see if the council would approve the franchise agreement that the lawyers have worked out. The board motioned to accept the agreement.
Economic Developer Richard Mooney attended a CBDG meeting and has been in contact with several businesses that have an interest in Pattonsburg.
Inquiry was made about the city’s legal situation regarding the Public Water Supply District. The city’s attorney is still waiting on communication from the water district’s attorney.
Angie Jones, utilities clerk, turned in her resignation. Her final day is Feb. 29. She agreed to assist Karen Shepherd, city clerk, during the transition.
Bills for February were reviewed and bills paid as presented.
Those in attendance were Mayor Gene Walker; board members Dwight Schell, Lonnie Luke and Leonard Barr; Water Superintendent Eddy Meador; Utilities Clerk Angie Jones; City Clerk Karen Shepherd; Economic Developer Richard Mooney; representatives of Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail: Daviess County Commissioner David Holcomb, Jail Budget Officer Dave Tolen and Jail Administrator Larry Hadley; and Missouri Gas Utilities Marketing representatives Bret Brown and Julie Zorn.
