She is retiring after more than 22 years as an employee of the United States Postal Service.
Mrs. Read started in September 1985 as postmaster relief/replacement, working with Postmaster Betty Rouner for 12 years. She became postmaster of the Coffey Post Office on July 7, 2000.
Mrs. Read grew up in the Bethany area. She has lived in the Coffey area since marrying James Read on Dec. 26, 1949. They have seven children, 16 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
