The 2008 Daviess County Spelling Bee was held at Tri-County R-7 school. Fifth through eighth graders competed from five Daviess County schools. Students competing were the last two remaining in their individual classroom competition from each of the schools. The first place winner of the competition was sixth grader Megan Ellis from Jamesport. Second place alternate was eighth grader Dillon Axton of Gallatin. Third place went to seventh grader Kristen Heldenbrand of Winston. Megan will represent Daviess County Schools in the District Spelling Bee at St. Joseph on March 8. It will be held at the St. Francis Xavier Parish Center. Pictured in order are Megan, Dillon and Kristen.
