Law enforcement officers arrested a Jamesport man on Feb. 2 who allegedly assaulted an officer during a traffic stop on Hwy. 190, several miles west of Chillicothe, according to an article in the St. Joseph News-Press.
The state charged Danny Joe Kramer, 22, with two felonies of assault on a law enforcement officer and felony resisting arrest. Allegedly, Mr. Kramer had to be handcuffed because of disruptive behavior during a Missouri State Highway Patrol traffic stop. The defendant was a passenger in the vehicle.
Officers at the scene assisted the other passengers in contacting a responsible person to drive them from the scene.
While handcuffed, Mr. Kram- er allegedly head-butted with significant force a Livingston County deputy sheriff. The deputy had to be treated at Hedrick Medical Center.
Mr. Kramer pleaded innocent to the charges and Associate Circuit Court Judge James P. Valbracht set bond at $50,000.
Deputies transported the defendant to the Livingston Coun- ty Jail, where he remained until Feb. 6 when the bond was posted.
The defendant reportedly apologized for his actions, said Sheriff Steve Cox.
Mr. Kramer has been ordered to return to court at 9 a.m. Feb. 20 for scheduling a preliminary hearing or waive his rights so the case can be transferred to Circuit Court for trial.
