DeAnna Swalley’s grandfather was very good with the weather and passed along a few “wives-tales” to her.
One of those old sayings is that the date on which the first tracking snow falls is how many snows there will be in the season. Our first tracking snow fell on Nov. 21 so we should have 21 snows, according to the proverb. By DeAnna’s count, this last storm marks the 17th tracking snow of the season. She has recorded a total of over 29 inches of snow. DeAnna said she didn’t know if she has all the snow fall amounts correct since several of the snows were only tracking and didn’t really amount to a lot.
