Funeral services for Norma Johnson were held at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday), Jan. 23, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial was at Hillcrest Cemetery near Gallatin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gallatin Presbyterian Church.

Norma Johnson, 89, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at the Sunset Home in Maysville.
Mrs. Johnson was born June 14, 1918, to Fred and Elizabeth (Oberhelm) Toburen in the Swede Creek Community near Randolph, Kan. She graduated from high school in Morgan, Kan.
Mrs. Johnson worked in Lawrence, Kan., and later in Leavenworth, Kan., for the Kansas Power and Light Company.
She married Donald T. Johnson on July 18, 1942. In 1946 after World War II, Mr. Johnson was discharged from the military and the couple moved to Gallatin.
Mrs. Johnson worked at the Gallatin grade school lunchroom for many years. She also volunteered at the grade school in Gallatin for 10 years where she would assist the fourth grade students in their reading.
Mrs. Johnson was a member and also an elder of the Gallatin Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the Listen and Learn Club and a member of the Chapter B.Q. P.E.O. Sisterhood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don in 1985, a son Larry in 1973, seven brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include one daughter Gayle Gillette of Maysville; one sister Ruth Jones, Olathe, Kan., five grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
