NASHC scorers will be scoring shed antlers brought in by area whitetail enthusiasts and will award trophies to the top 10 shed antlers scored as well as prizes for sheds left on display. The unique organization will also display many of the largest shed deer antlers ever scored in this country.
NASHC staff members will be available throughout the show to discuss tips for finding elusive shed antlers in local whitetail habitat and will also conduct seminars, open to all Classic attendees, on shed hunting each day.
“Hunting for shed’s is becoming more and ore popular each year,” explained Steve Shoot, president of the North Missouri Sportsman’s Alliance, the non-profit organization sponsoring the Outdoor Classic. “It gives people another opportunity to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors.”
Shed antlers brought to the event will be measured and then entered in the contest for trophy recognition, and may also be entered in NASHC’s official record book of the best sheds found in North America. Shed antlers brought in and left on display throughout the show will be included in a special drawing for other prizes, to be held on Sunday afternoon just prior to the show’s conclusion.
The NASHC shed antler display will join local “Braggin’ Wall” display of many of the largest deer racks taken in Missouri and the display of other mounts brought in for scoring by the official scorers on hand throughout the show. These displays of trophy whitetail racks will allow attendees an opportunity to see some of the largest deer antlers ever available for public viewing in north Missouri.
The North Missouri Outdoor Classic will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Feb. 9 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 10. In addition to viewing the various displays of huge whitetail antlers, attendees can browse through a large exhibit hall continuing the latest in outdoor equipment and attend seminars on whitetail hunting, trophy catfishing, turkey calling, bear hunting and mountain lions, as well as the latest information on wildlife habitat conservation practices from the Missouri Department of Conservation.
