On Feb. 4-8 Searcy Elementary in Gallatin will be holding its annual Jump Rope for Heart event to raise funds for the American Heart Association.
The money the school raises helps fund potentially lifesaving research into heart and blood vessel diseases. It also support the development of educational materials that teach the importance of heart health and staying fit. Our school also earns gift certificates for the physical education department.
Jump Rope for Heart will benefit the child, too. Besides being fun, it teaches jump rope skills and the importance of physical activity and community service. Depending on the amount of contributions collected, the child will be eligible for a variety of thank you gifts.
The event provides the opportunity for children to perform community service as they raise funds for the American Heart Association. Elementary students will be jumping rope during physical education classes that week. Checks should be made payable to the American Heart Association.
