A Community Blood Center blood drive will be held from 2-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the Gallaitn High School in the commons area. The blood drive is being sponsored by FCCLA. January is National Volunteer Blood Donor Month.
Requirements for a blood donor are few: you must be at least 16 years of age, weigh 115 pounds and be in good health.
The Community Blood Center staff performs various health checks on all donors including temperature, blood pressure and hemoglobin. All donors also receive cholesterol results, which are mailed to the individual’s home four to six weeks after their donation.
Please bring photo identification such as your driver’s license. Photo ID is required or two forms of ID (birth certificate, social security card, blood donor card, or hunter safety card) if a photo ID is not available). Cholesterol test will be performed on all units of blood collected. Please eat well and drink plenty of fluids prior to your donation. All blood donations through the Community Blood Center benefit local hospital patients. For medical eligibility questions, please call 1-800-245-7035.
