Helen Courter will celebrate her 90th birthday on Dec. 29. Helen married Henry “Hank” Courter on Dec. 24, 1938.

She taught school for 35 years and they lived on a farm in Coffey before moving to Bethany. Henry passed away in July, 2001.
An open house will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Dec. 29 in the dining room of the Countryside Apartments, Crestview Road. It will be hosted by her daughter, Kay (Kent) Holcomb; her son, Jerry (Barbara) Courter; and granddaughters, Kerra (Rob) Bowers, Sara and Colleen Courter.
Helen also has five great-grandchildren, Colby, Brock and McCauley Bowers, Zachary and Taylor Holcomb.
A family dinner was held Dec. 22 when grandson Korby (Angie) Holcomb and family of Tennessee were here for Christmas. Korby was on leave from army duties in South America.
