Filing dates for school board positions were set for Dec. 18 to Jan. 22 during the regular meeting of the Winston R-6 Board of Education held Friday, Nov. 16.

Abe and Janis Riggs presented “Fred Ayres Sportsmanship Award” ideas, which the board approved. The program will begin in 2008.
Mr. Pohren reported an enrollment of 115 and attendance rate of 96.63%.
Students of the Month were Clint Alexander and Katherine Barnes. There are 16 in preschool and 99 in kindergarten through sixth grade.
Mr. Covey reported an enrollment of 81 with a 93.5% attendance rate.
Students of the month were Bubba Legg and Tabitha Piburn. Courtney Riggs was a Lions Club art recipient.
The following programs were approved: Facility and Grounds; Transportation; Migratory Students; English as a Second Language; Homeless; and Curriculum.
The next board meeting is at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19.
