Students from 10 different towns and ranging in age from three through 22 performed two different recitals, themed around “Sock Hop at the North Pole.”The Dance Company students along with Santa and Elvis entertained the audiences with tap, jazz, clogging, pom-pon, acro-dance, ballet and lyrical numbers. The students’ finale depicted the true meaning of Christmas with a Biblical reading and Senior Salute of “Light My Candle for Peace,” featuring Kathryn Everly performing a flag routine with ballet and lyrical accompaniment. Senior Lindsey Dustman was ill and unable to perform, but her senior candle for peace was carried out in ballet form by Lacey Shilt. With over 30 routines and guest vocalist Allie Wallace, the charity recital raised $300 after rental expenses. This money will be used throughout five counties to help those less fortunate during this holiday season. The Dance Company, owned by Vera Nelson of Gallatin, has made this recital an annual event in which dance students’ talents are given to our community. The studio will begin in January 2008 preparing for the Spring Recital, which will feature recital and competitive routines. The Dance Company invited the community to watch their Total-Cheer and Hand-Jive Jazz class perform at the Gallatin basketball game half-time on Tuesday, Dec. 11.
