Graveside memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Grand River Cemetery near Jameson.

Thomas E. Jones, 81, Savannah, formerly of Jameson, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, at the Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Savannah.
Mr. Jones was born Jan. 28, 1926, to Noah and Sarah (Bunger) Jones in Napoleon. He attended school in Jameson. He enlisted in the Merchant Marines during WWII and went to sea in 1944.
Mr. Jones was united in marriage to Mary Margaret Pearson in Gallatin. She preceded him in death after 55 years of marriage.
Thomas and his family traveled around a four state area where he did heavy construction and bridge work, retiring in 1965 after 40 years of service.
He bought a farm in Rea after retirement to enjoy country life and to raise cattle.
Survivors include one son, Arthur Jones, Rosendale; one daughter, Sue Gabriel, Platte City; one sister, Anna Jennings; one brother, Jack Jones; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
