Edgar M Muller 89, of Gallatin, passed away Nov. 22, 2007 at Shirkey’s Care Center in Richmond, Mo. Services were held Nov. 25 at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Family visitation was held one hour prior to the service. Interment was at Lick Fork Cemetery near Gallatin. Memorial contributions can be made to the Gallatin United Methodist Church, Lick Fork Cemetery Association or the Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation.

Edgar was born on Aug. 16, 1918, the son of Nellie Catherine and Thomas J. Muller in Daviess County. He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII in North Africa and Italy, receiving the rank of Staff Sgt. After his discharge from the Army, Edgar worked at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kan. It was in Wichita he met his future wife, Helen Boyd. They were married on Dec. 22, 1946, and in 1949 returned to Missouri where Edgar began his life long career as a farmer south of Gallatin. To this union were born two daughters, Martha and Lynda. In addition to farming, Edgar later worked as a rural postal carrier for many years.

Edgar was a devoted member of the Gallatin United Methodist Church where he served on the Church Board and many committees. Edgar also dedicated many years of service to the Daviess County University of Missouri Extension Council, and Gallatin Lions Club. He served as the Lions Club Treasurer for more than 20 years. In 2006, Edgar was awarded membership in the Haywood Snipes Society of the Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation for his outstanding service to the Lions. Edgar believed in volunteering his time to help the community whether assisting with set up for the annual Chautauqua Festival flea market, or placing American Flags about town in recognition of our veterans, or helping deliver Meals on Wheels for the Senior Center. Even in retirement, you would find Edgar working at the local hardware store where he loved to visit with people, sharing his knowledge and experience as a "mister fix-it-man."

Edgar was preceded in death by his wife Helen in June, 2007 and a brother Harry L. Muller.

He is survived by daughters, Martha Epping and husband Dan of Riverside, Mo., Lynda Johnson and husband Jeffrey of Lexington, Mo., two grandchildren, John Johnson of Columbia, Tonya Addington and husband Scott of North Kansas City; also four great-grandchildren, Dakota, Connor, Anthony, and Kaylea Addington, and one step grandchild, Josh Addington.
