The participants, ranging in age from 14-18, were selected to attend because of their leadership potential. Two State 4-H Council Northwest Regional Representatives, Katie Eggers and Sara Weidner, led the youth in mixers on Friday evening that allowed the youth to get acquainted at the start of the retreat.

The 4-H teens stayed at the Salvation Army Community Center, using the facility for games and social time. Saturday morning the teens received a tour of Triumph Foods where they were able to observe pork food processing from holding pen to packaging.

Saturday afternoon the 4-H teens returned to the Community Center for team building and leadership activities lead by the Regional University Missouri Extension 4-H Youth Development Staff, including Northwest Region 4-H Youth Specialist Becky Simpson of Daviess County. Activities involved team building challenges, psychogeometrics and personality, leadership in the community and workforce as well as tips and tools that the 4-H teens were able to take back to their local counties and 4-H clubs.
