During the regular meeting of the Gallatin Board of Aldermen held Monday, Nov. 12, City Administrator Zac Johnson talked about the new water well project and finishing the sewer project this year.

 He gave a sample dog ordinance for the board to review.
Police Chief Mark Richards reported on activity from Oct. 22 to Nov. 12: 1 Property Damage; 3 Stealing; 1 Careless Driving; 1 No Insurance; 2 Accidents; 1 Warrant Arrest; 1 Fail to Yield. There are seven dogs in the pound.
Chief Richards stated that Halloween night went well and that there were no problems. He discussed the accident Officer Wilson had on Halloween night involving the Crown Victoria.
Bills totalling in the amount of $161,900.57 were approved for payment.
During old business, discussion was held on park projects; on getting a proposal for a new phone system at city hall; and on the water well inspections.
During new business, the board carried a motion to approve the sewer bills in the amount of $29,557.33.
Discussion was held on the financial statement.
City Clerk Acree read the following election certification results submitted by the Daviess County Clerk: ½ cent sales tax for transportation purposes: Yes 175; No 48. The board accepted the results as read.
City Administrator Johnson stated that Steve and he were going to be looking at some small bucket trucks to possibly purchase in the near future.
Discussion was held on Christmas lights. The city will be working with the Gallatin Rotary Club to decorate the courthouse this year.
Mr. Johnson asked for the employees to be given a full day off for Christmas Eve this year instead of just a half day. The board agreed to the full day off.
During comments by aldermen, remarks were made regarding Gallatin Plaza Apartments.
Mayor Ballew commented about a Christmas dinner for the employees. She will handle making the arrangements.
The board entered into closed session pursuant to legal actions and litigation and hiring, firing, disciplining or promoting employees.
Public comments were made regarding the transportation sales tax and about the trash service contract.
