The competition deals with five main areas of the environment, including forestry, aquatics, soils, wildlife, and the current issue (this year on recreational affects on the environment), and an oral team presentation on a specific problem from the current issue.
All stations are outside and use the environment there plus paper questions on each area, except for the oral presentation.
Gallatin has competed since 1999 and gone to state several of those years, however this is the first year they have won 1st place. The team earned 1st place in Forestry, Aquatics, Soils, Wildlife, the Current issue, and 2nd in the oral presentation. The second and third place finishers will also compete at state competition on May 1.
