The MCB program assists communities to improve their quality of life. Other winners in their population groups were Grant City, Cabool, Higginsville, Eldon, and Maryville.

Jameson was described by the MCB judges who visited the community "as a die-hard progressive community that gives 100% to fulfilling the desired and most important needs in their community." They further said that the town had "risen to the highest level in terms of rolling up their sleeves and improving the appearance and safety of their community… The amount of ‘sweat equity’ in this industrious and committed community with excellent goals has made a tremendous difference."

The prize for winning first in their category was $300. The Jameson Betterment association completed five projects last year including building sidewalks, demolishing blighted buildings, conducting a city-wide clean up for Earth Day, painting street signs, and creating note cards that feature local historic buildings.

MCB board members and judges said they chose Jameson as the grand prize winner because it "did the best job of planning and planting the seeds for community success for 2007. The level of volunteerism displayed by this community is exemplary, and demonstrates a good joint partnership between individuals, community organizations, and the city, which allowed them to accomplish so many goals and complete so many projects."

In addition to receiving plaques in the shape of the state for their efforts, Jameson will display a traveling trophy for the year in honor of their achievements. They also received $500 for winning the top prize.
