Collector’s Office

If you do not receive a tax statement from the Daviess County Collector by Nov. 15, please contact the collector’s office. This year, for the first time, all tax collections will be made at the courthouse, either by mail or in person.

County Clerk

The county clerk’s office will be open for absentee voting on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 8 a.m. until noon.

Sheriff’s Dept.

Aaron Roberts, Coffey, was arrested Oct. 23 for driving while revoked, class D felony. He posted $5,000 bond.

Alvin Merritt, 36, Flagler, Colo., was charged oct. 29 with failure to appear on two counts of criminal non-support, class D felony. He posted $22,000 bond.

Larry Coffman, 30, Spickard, was arrested in Nodaway County on Oct. 27 for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge of passing bad checks. He posted $250 bond.

Henry Holcomb, 30, Gallatin, was charged Oct. 25 with failure to register as sex offender. He posted bond.

Circuit Court

A dissolution of marriage was granted to CaryAnn McAfee from Albert Wayne McAfee on Oct. 23.

In Richard Daniel etal vs. Sidney Martin, there was a judgment of dismissal with prejudice on Oct. 23. Court costs were assessed to the petitioner.

A application for trial de novo was filed Oct. 26 in an animal nuisance case by the City of Gallatin against Carla J. Arnold of Gallatin. The case was heard in a court trial Oct. 22 in the Associate Division, resulting in a guilty verdict and $500 fine, and will now be heard in the Circuit Court as a new trial.

Civil cases filed: Leah Kathleen Persinger, Pattonsburg, vs. Micheal James Persinger, Kansas City, dissolution of marriage.

Associate Circuit Court

Kennan D. Critten, Jamesport, received 60 days jail, suspended execution of sentence, two years probation, and 48 hours shock jail for driving while intoxicated amended by prosecuting attorney to class B misdemeanor, in a case heard by Judge Jason Kanoy.

Traffic Fines

The following are traffic cases which were heard in the Associate Division of the Circuit Court of Daviess County involving a plea of guilty without contest and payment by mail of the standard fine plus court costs. The total fines assessed for defendants who reside outside of Missouri was $873.50 for 13 tickets. The total fines assessed for defendants who reside in Missouri was $496 for nine cases. Court costs collected for the State of Missouri amount to $56.50 for moving traffic violations. Missouri defendants, offenses and fines are listed below:

Following another vehicle too closely: Erick D. Jackson, Cameron, $103.50.

Failed to register vehicle with DOR: Arthur D. Lawson, Winston, $38.50.

Municipal Division

Court costs for moving violation $32.50; non-moving $29.50.

Dog at large: Stanley T. Street, Gallatin, $10.50.

Littering: Daryl D. Swalley, Gallatin, $50.

Careless and imprudent: Jimmy D. Seib, Chillicothe, $47.50; John A. Whitmore, Gallatin, $47.50.

Lewd behavior: Craig D. Brown, Columbia, $100.

Domestic Assault: Johnny P. Mendez, Gallatin, 20 days jail.

Nuisance-unlicensed trailer: Lisa A. Simmons, Gallatin, two counts, $20.50.

Minor in possession: Bryce E. Carder, Gallatin, suspended imposition of sentence, one year probation, 15 hours community service.

Failure to stop at stop sign, amended by prosecuting attorney to defective equipment: Chase M. Hunt, Gallatin, $67.50.

Dog license required: Cynthia M. Davis, Gallatin, $10.50.

Animal nuisance: Carla J. Arnold, Gallatin, case tried, found guilty, $500 fine.

Cory S. Michael, Gallatin, received a suspended imposition of sentence, two years probation, and 15 hours community service for DWI amended to minor in possession. He was fined $27.50 for no proper license and $25 for no insurance.

Marcus L. Lacy, Gallatin, was fined $10.50 for dog at large and $10.50 for no city tag on dog.

Civil Court

Consent judgments were entered on two suits on account: CACV of Colorado vs. Jean Eskridge; Northstar Acquisitions LLC vs. Eslie B. Terry.

Small Claims

Farmers Bank of Northern Missouri vs. Sara Friesz was dismissed by the parties.

County Commission

James Lewis, bridge supervisor, reported that they are continuing repairs on bridges and culverts.

Keith Sutton met with the commission regarding questions about brush.

Bills were audited and paid.

Zac Johnson, city administrator, informed the commission that the city would paint the parking areas blue after the handicap signs are put in place.
