The performance will be at the Grundy County Senior Center, 2901 Hoover Drive, and will begin at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m.
Back by popular demand, this swinging 17-piece orchestra will have your toes tapping in no time as they play music popular during the WWII era and special favorites at USO Canteen Shows and Dances.
If you’re a WWII veteran, you may look back to USO dances as some of the better memories of your war experience. Perhaps you’ve seen great war movies which depict how the USO would provide entertainment for the troops and fliers by sponsoring dances featuring the leading dance band and singers of the time.
These dances offered a rare opportunity to relax, have fun, unwind and forget about the war for a few brief hours. The USO entertainment progra.m.s were such a successful initiative for morale, they beca.m.e legendary for their role in winning the war. The Moonlight Serenade Orchestra commemorates this heritage by re-creating the sights and sounds of these great times.
The Board of the Grundy County Friends of the Arts hopes you will join us for this evening of reminiscing and great music… and, don’t forget to wear your best dancing shoes!
