Gallatin, 19-2, takes on Princeton, 12-8, in a rematch of last year’s sectional game that was held on a cold night in Trenton. Gallatin won that game, 17-0, but the Lady Tigers bring a much-improved squad to tonight’s clash. Gallatin defeated Princeton, 7-1, in late August.

Gallatin jumped out to a 7-0, first-inning lead against Tri-County on the way to a 10-0 victory in Saturday’s district championship game by sending 11 batters to the plate. Ashley Owens, Courtney Ray, Maggie Strange, Shelby Chadwick, Kirsten Bowe, Kaddie Mott and Carly Boyd all scored in the opening frame.

Strange singled and scored on Chadwick’s rbi-grounder in the second frame. Boyd walked and scored in the third. Strange tacked on the deciding run in the bottom of the fourth for the Lady Bulldogs.

Lacey Dixon did not allow a baserunner in five innings, striking out the side in each of the second, fourth and fifth innings. She finished with 13 strikeouts, induced one pop up to Wren Tolen at first and a weak grounder in front of the plate fielded by Strange.

The Lady Bulldogs overwhelmed the Stewartsville Lady Cardinals, 15-0, last Thursday with another offensive barrage in the first inning. Gallatin sent 14 batters to the plate in the frame before the Lady Cards recorded an out, and totaled eight hits and 14 runs in the inning.
Owens, Dixon, Chadwick and Bowe each had two hits in three innings of play. Strange, Mott, Boyd, Ray and Nicole Everman each had a hit.

Dixon struck out seven and walked one batter in the 45-minute game.

The winner of today’s sectional game will advance to Saturday’s state quarterfinal at Danner Park in Chillicothe. King City, 17-6 and winner of District 16, faces Jefferson, 23-1 and winner of District 15, tonight in Conception Junction.

With a victory tonight, Gallatin will look for revenge against either King City or Jefferson. King City knocked off Gallatin, 5-1, two weeks ago on the final night of conference play. Jefferson edged Gallatin, 3-2, in last year’s quarterfinal in Chillicothe.

This year’s Class 1 title game will be played at 11:30 a.m., Oct. 20, at Rainbow Softball Center in Columbia. Should the Lady Bulldogs advance to the state tournament, they will play a semifinal game at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19.
